The restaurant is open throughout the week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner by reservation.
- Breakfast: from 8:30 am to 10:30 am
- Lunch: from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
- Dinner: from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
In our cozy restaurant with a large fireplace, we serve a selection of homemade Auvergne and international dishes. You can also enjoy stone grilling for a delightful evening with friends and family. Please note: During the low season, the restaurant is sometimes only open if there are hotel guests present. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to contact us via email, WhatsApp, or phone to ensure that you don’t find yourself at a closed door: 04 63 55 40 02 or 07 81 78 64 23.
Our Values
All our dishes are freshly home-made by Caroline.
We cater to the needs of vegetarians with various choices on our menu. Vegan dishes or dishes with dietary restrictions (lactose, gluten, etc.) are available upon prior request.
Our meat comes from the renowned butcher shop Chez Bertrand in Bagnols. As animal lovers, we only use beef from properly raised animals that have mostly free-range grazing throughout the year and are slaughtered locally to minimize stress for the animals. These are often former dairy cows kept for producing St. Nectaire cheese, which can be seen in fields throughout the region. Honestly, organically produced pork is still problematic in the region, so we are still looking for a satisfactory solution.
The eggs and poultry are Label Rouge, organic, or sourced from nearby small-scale animal-friendly farms.
We cook our dishes using fresh and organic ingredients whenever possible, including vegetables, herbs, and fruits from our own garden.
Our ice cream comes from Sancy Glaces, an artisanal small-scale ice cream producer in La Tour d’Auvergne. Nous cuisinons nos plats avec des ingrédients frais et biologiques dès que nous en avons la possibilité.
The Aperitif
We offer an extensive selection of beers, wines, cocktails, and liqueurs from around the world. For whisky lovers, we also offer a wide selection of whiskies that we have collected over the years.
After a day of hiking, skiing, cross-country skiing, or other tourist activities, you can relax by our large fireplace in the restaurant. A comfortable sofa and armchairs are at your disposal.
We regularly organize concerts for you to enjoy with your family and friends!
The bar
Our bar is the place to gather with friends at the end of the day for a drink, a game of darts, or a good conversation. We offer various regional aperitifs such as La Gentiane de Saint Donat, Salers, and Avèze. The draft beer is Leffe Blond, and we also have many bottled varieties, including Heineken, Kronenbourg, Guinness, Brewdog IPA, and Gaïa, Bière du Sancy. Eric prepares an extensive selection of homemade cocktails, such as Mojito, Daiquiris, and his signature Cocktail de Terroir.
And importantly, the music is always good!
Your Events
Our Auberge is also available for organizing private or professional outings, such as workshops, presentations, rallies, weddings, birthdays, baptism parties, etc.
We offer a range of audiovisual resources to support business meetings, including a projector, flip chart, whiteboard, etc.
Our restaurant can accommodate up to 60 people, and our hotel can accommodate up to 18 people. We work together with B&Bs and gites in the area, so accommodation is not a problem.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome!

What motivated us to take over Auberge de la Providence in Saint Donat was the desire to provide our guests with an unforgettable stay. We strive to create a warm and friendly atmosphere where our guests feel at home.
We try to organize enjoyable activities as often as possible in our hostel. These can include:

- Music jam sessions
- Dutch evenings
- Mussels & Frites evening
Because music also plays a big role in our lives, we regularly invite local musicians to liven up the evening.
